The FKF Women Premier League Round 9 delivered thrilling matches as defending champions Vihiga Queens and Kenya Police Bullets claimed crucial victories, while Bunyore Starlets showed resilience but remain in search of their first win this season.
Bunyore Starlets Still In Search Of First Win
Bunyore Starlets played out a spirited 2-2 draw against Zetech Sparks away from home. Despite going behind twice, they displayed commendable determination to fight back. Zetech’s Faith Muli was in superb form, scoring twice to keep the hosts in contention. However, Bunyore struck back through Sheila Afandi and Brygid Barasa, leveling the game in an end-to-end encounter. Zetech looked the more aggressive side as the game progressed, but Bunyore’s defensive strategy and counterattacks earned them a valuable point.
Vihiga Queens Edge Out Kisumu Allstarlets
Meanwhile, former champions Vihiga Queens continued with their impressive run with a commanding 3-1 victory over Kisumu Allstarlets. The game began with an own goal caused by Claudia Kadenge Ukiru’s dangerous cross. Faith Ongachi Marende doubled the lead after capitalizing on Ruth Khasoha’s precise free kick. Though Kisumu pulled one back through Faith Atieno, Vihiga sealed the victory with Yvonne Muyoka’s strike, assisted by Martha Amunyolete.
Kenya Police Bullets Win Maximum Points Against Resilient Bungoma Queens
Kenya Police Bullets also enjoyed success, edging out Bungoma Queens 2-1. Lydia Akoth opened the scoring with a penalty before Rebecca Okwaro doubled the lead. Bungoma Queens pulled one back through Catherine Khaemba, following a brilliant assist from her twin sister Caroline. Despite Bungoma’s efforts in the second half, Police Bullets held firm to secure the win and maintain their strong form.
Elsewhere, Kisped Queens delivered the most dominant performance of the weekend, thrashing Wadadia 4-0 in Mumias. Goals from Asher Achieng, Dorothy Ayuga, Linder Okoside, and Laura Atsabina highlighted a flawless performance.
In another encounter, Kibera Soccer Women and Ulinzi Starlets played out a goalless draw in a tightly contested match. Both teams created chances but lacked the clinical edge to break the deadlock.
As the league progresses, Vihiga Queens and Kenya Police Bullets continue to lead the charge for the title. For Bunyore Starlets, the draw against Zetech Sparks may provide a morale boost as they strive to secure their first win of the season in the coming rounds.
