Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced Francis Kimanzi as the interim head coach of Harambee Stars for the upcoming Mapinduzi Cup, scheduled to take place from January 3rd to 13th, 2025, in Zanzibar.
The Mapinduzi Cup will serve as a crucial platform for preparing Kenya’s locally-based players ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament. Kimanzi’s appointment marks his return to the national team setup, where he will lead a provisional squad blending experienced campaigners and emerging talents.
Technical Bench
Kimanzi will be supported by a strong interim technical bench that includes John Kamau and Zedekiah Otieno as assistant coaches. Former Kenyan international goalkeeper Arnold Origi has been brought in as the goalkeeper coach, while Mikael Igediah will handle fitness technology. The medical team includes Wycliff Makanga as team doctor and Noel Mandi as physiotherapist.
The appointments are temporary, pending the completion of the recruitment process for a permanent national team coaching staff.

FKF Deputy President McDonald Mariga emphasized the importance of the tournament in the team’s preparations:

National Super League Player Earns A call up to the national team
Nairobi United midfielder Isaac Omweri earned his maiden call up to the Harambee Stars senior side.The attacking midfielder becomes the first player from the second tier to earn a call up to the senior side in recent times.
