With the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Presidential and National Executive Committee (NEC) elections set to take place on Saturday at Kasarani Indoor Arena, FKF Electoral Board Chairman Hesbon Owila has called for strict adherence to the code of conduct by all participants. Owila emphasized the importance of maintaining order and ensuring the elections run smoothly, warning against any disruptions during the highly anticipated polls.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Owila assured delegates, candidates, and stakeholders that adequate security measures had been put in place to guarantee their safety. “We are glad that so far, everything has gone as planned,” he said. “One matter that we intend not to take lightly is security. I am asking all delegates, candidates, media, and stakeholders not to worry. We have had fruitful meetings with the security and national police stationed here to guarantee everyone of their safety.”
Strict Guidelines to Maintain Order
To uphold the integrity of the process, the Board has implemented a strict policy prohibiting the display of any branded merchandise or campaign materials within the premises. Owila reminded all participants to respect the process and refrain from chanting or any actions that may disrupt the proceedings. “The period of campaigning will have been over. It is our expectation that there will be no chanting, shouting, or possession of material that seeks to endorse any candidate,” he said.
Adjusted Delegate Numbers
In a statement clarifying the number of participants, Owila revealed that Nyamira and Homabay counties, along with the Kenya Football Referees Association, will not take part in the elections. Ongoing court cases have excluded the two counties, while no explanation was provided for the referees’ association’s absence. As a result, the number of voting delegates has been reduced from 93 to 90.
“We are fully appreciative of the role FKF, FIFA, and CAF have played in this process to ensure we align with global standards,” Owila stated. He further warned that any disruptions would be met with disciplinary action, in line with the declarations all candidates signed.

The elections will see eight candidates vying for the FKF Presidential seat and nine others competing for NEC and women’s representative positions. This pivotal election comes at a critical time for Kenyan football, with stakeholders hoping for leadership that can address the sport’s longstanding challenges and restore confidence in its governance.
