Ryan Ogam’s rise has been nothing short of electrifying. Tusker FC’s lethal forward, known for his precision and power on the field, has earned his first senior call-up to the Harambee Stars for Sunday’s high-stakes CHAN Qualifiers second leg against South Sudan in Uganda. After a stellar comeback from injury, Ogam’s ability to change games has been impossible to ignore, catching the eye of national coach Engin Firat.
Just a few months ago, the former Green Commandos star joined Tusker FC from the now-defunct Rainbow FC. And though he missed three matches with an injury, his return last weekend was headline-worthy. Ogam put on a stellar performance against KCB, netting two goals in a narrow 3-2 loss, pushing his tally to five goals in just four games this season.
Now, with a chance to shine on the national stage, Ogam is brimming with pride and gratitude.
“I’m overjoyed to be called up for the senior team,” he told Tusker FC’s media team. “I’ve represented Kenya at junior levels, but to get the senior call-up is a whole new level of honor. It’s every player’s dream, and I’m grateful to achieve this target I set for myself when the season started.”
But Ogam’s journey hasn’t been one of luck alone—it’s one marked by grit, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Known for his humility, he credited his Tusker FC family for helping him reach this point: “This is a massive platform, and I want to thank my team Tusker FC, teammates, coaches, and management. Without their support, I wouldn’t be here. I’m humbled and eager to make the most of this opportunity.”
With a hunger that refuses to settle, Ogam insists this call-up is just the beginning. “The work doesn’t stop here,” he emphasized. He’s determined to keep delivering on the field, aiming for more call-ups and a lasting impact with the national team.
Ogam will be hoping to earn his maiden start as Kenya takes on South Sudan in the CHAN Qualifiers second leg on Sunday at Mandela National Stadium in Uganda. The former Rainbow Fc captain has now represented the country in all age levels from U15,U17,U18,U20 and U23.
