KCB’s Unbeaten Run Continues As Shabana Hold Kariobangi Sharks

With a number of matches postponed due to some players from affected club’s featuring in the CHAN Qualifiers with the Harambee Stars,this weekend’s Fkf Premier League fixture saw Mathare United register their second win of the season as Ulinzi Stars secured their first win of the season.

Mathare United secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over FC Talanta at Dandora Stadium, notching their second win of the season. Goals from Cetric Asango and captain Elli Asieche proved decisive, as Mathare’s defense held firm against Talanta’s second-half attempts to mount a comeback. The first half was a tense midfield battle, with both teams struggling to create clear chances. Mathare finally broke through in the 49th minute when Asango headed home from a corner, and Asieche doubled the lead in the 62nd minute to seal the three points.

With this win, Mathare United move up the table, while FC Talanta will look to bounce back after their second defeat of the season.

At the same venue, Shabana and Kariobangi Sharks clashed in an evenly matched 1-1 draw. Shabana, seeking their first win, came in with attacking intent, creating chances through Bryan Michira and Darius Msagha. In the 58th minute, Michira found the net after a skillful setup by Msagha, giving Shabana a brief lead.

Sharks quickly responded, winning a penalty in the 67th minute after Steve Mbulere was brought down in the box. Keith Imbali converted from the spot to level the score. Both teams pushed for a winner, but the draw sees Shabana still hunting for their first league win, while Sharks remain steady in second place with 12 points from seven games.

In another match at Sportpesa Arena in Murang’a,KCB returned to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Tusker FC. Francis Kahiro was quick off the mark, scoring in the 5th minute from James Kinyanjui’s cross, and doubling the lead in the 13th minute by heading in a Kevin Okumu cross.

Tusker’s Ryan Ogam, just back from injury, pulled one back in the 39th minute from a captain Charles Momanyi’s assist. KCB responded in the second half as Kinyanjui extended their lead to 3-1 after Vincent Ondabu’s impressive setup. Ogam added a second for Tusker from the penalty spot in the 74th minute, but KCB held firm to secure their fifth win of the season and stay atop the league table.

In Sunday’s lone fixture, Ulinzi Stars finally claimed their first league win, overcoming Posta Rangers 2-1 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Posta Rangers took an early lead in the 7th minute with a goal from Curtis Wekesa, but Ulinzi found their rhythm in the second half. Fredrick Oduor equalized in the 58th minute, heading in from a corner by Javan Omondi. In the 74th minute, substitute Brian Kafero assisted Enos Ochieng, who netted the winner to secure Ulinzi’s first victory of the season.
